Are you meeting your performance goals? Join Jerald S. Fifield Ph.D., PH, CISEC, CPESC and Tina R. Wills, PE, CISEC for the sixth and final installment of our advanced Sediment and Erosion Control Master Class Series and the second part of our Effective S&EC Plans 2-part mini-series, Determining Performance Goals and Assessing the Effectiveness of S&EC Plans, exploring the calculation of performance goals (PG) at major discharge points using the results of RUSLE2, as well how to calculate effectiveness (EFF) of sediment and erosion control plans before implementation.

Effective sediment and erosion control plans developed by designers and approved by regulatory agencies must meet specific performance goals (PG), but, all too often these performance goals cannot be achieved (e.g., discharge of sediment cannot occur) or remain idealistic (e.g., BMPs must remain functional for all storm events). Increasingly calculating erosion rates by RUSLE2 is becoming more commonplace due to the computer algorithms that better simulate vegetation establishment, rendering it an excellent tool to assess how land disturbance activities affect a watershed and calculate performance goals.

Working through Fifield’s best-selling Designing and Reviewing Effective Sediment and Erosion Control Plans (3rd ed.), this sixth module of our Sediment and Erosion Control Master Class Series addresses the issues regarding achieving performance goals, and puts forth the process and calculations by which using the results of RUSLE2 designers and reviewers can calculate performance goals (PG) at major discharge points assuming predevelopment discharge of sediment is to be maintained while construction activities occur. Additionally Fifield and Wills discuss how designers and reviewers can calculate effectiveness (EFF) of sediment and erosion control plans before implementation.

Learning Objectives
Attendees can expect the discussion and education of the following learning objectives.

Sediment and Erosion Control Master Class Series
This Determining Performance Goals and Assessing the Effectiveness of S&EC Plans webcast is the sixth module in our Sediment and Erosion Control Master Class Webcast Series. Currently, we are offering the full Master Class Webcast Series and manual at a discounted rate. If you are interested in purchasing the full Master Class Webcast Series, you can find information and the registration link here.

Sediment and Erosion Control Master Class Manual
This webast is based upon and works through the associated chapters in Jerald S. Fifield’s Designing and Reviewing Effective Sediment and Erosion Control Plans (3rded.), and is presented as an intermediate to advanced exploration of erosion, sediment, and sedimentation. As such, we recommend purchasing the manual Designing and Reviewing Effective Sediment and Erosion Control Plans (3rded.) with the webcast .
