Post-Construction Stormwater BMPs Master Class Series

With land development exploding at a rate more than double our population growth, well-designed and maintained stormwater BMPs are essential for every community. But, proper design and construction of stormwater BMPs isn't as easy as it looks. After all, we're not talking your standard soil grading and planting project. Are you up-to-speed on the latest BMP techniques, applications, and tools?

Join our panel of stormwater industry experts for a comprehensive 5-session on-demand master class series exploring the A-to-Z of post-construction stormwater BMPs design, construction, inspection, maintenance, and green infrastructure practices from across the U.S. and beyond.

In this 5-session series, we'll start with a look at the fundamental drivers, key elements, regulations, and system requirements of post-construction stormwater BMPs, and where green infrastructure fits into the picture. Building on this introduction, we'll dive into green infrastructure (from green roofs to bioswales) and discuss its critical components, applications, considerations, and results. Next, we'll move to BMP design and selection, exploring the basic computational hydrologic methods to determine stormwater runoff rates and volumes; the hydraulic methods to calculate velocities of flow and depths of conveyances and impoundments; and review the applicable computer modeling programs. We'll then cover the basics of BMP construction, including: structural requirements; construction methods, scheduling, and sequencing; and soil function and planting requirements. And finally, we'll wrap up our stormwater BMP tour with a discussion of BMP inspection and maintenance, and how you can best keep your BMPs happy and healthy.

This Master Class Series consists of five 1-1.5 hour on-demand presentations and Q&A session (5 PDHs / 0.5 CEUs total) focusing on the following topics.

  • On-Demand: BMP FundamentalsWhere We Are and Where We're Going
  • On-Demand: Green Infrastructure Where, When, and How to Incorporate It
  • On-Demand: BMP Design and Selection Hydrology, Hydraulics, and Computer Modeling
  • On-Demand: BMP Construction Methods and TechniquesGetting the Little Things Right
  • On-Demand: BMP Inspection and Maintenance Keeping BMPs Working

All sessions are presented in an on-demand format so you may attend at your leisure, and are accompanied by a quiz to test your skills. Learning on your own at home, online, or with a group, Forester University's Master Class Series is designed as an interactive experience with the leading experts in the field.
