Organics diversion and its impact on landfill operations and landfill gas (LFG) generation and recovery has become increasingly important as the number of local communities and government officials looking for alternatives to traditional solid waste management practices increase. With several technologies and systems are available, understanding the impacts on operations, planning for these impacts, and choosing the right system for your organization is essential for success.

Orgnaics Diversion

Join Daryl R. O’Dell, P.E., P.Eng., for the fourth session in our 5-Session Organics Management Master Class Series exploring organic diversion, its impact on landfill gas generation, how direct or indirect energy recovery from diverted organic materials can offset a reduction in energy sales, and how to implement planning that leads to system operations success.

In this webcast, we’ll explore organics diversion, its facility-specific needs, and its impact on landfilling practices and landfill gas generation and recovery. Specifically, O’Dell will address the relationship between organics diversion and the reduction in organic material intake leads to reductions in landfill gas generation and recovery, and ultimately, possible reductions in revenue… if not properly planned for. Addressing these issues, O’Dell will set forth how organizations can anticipate and plan for organics diversion’s impact, and ultimately offset any reduction in energy sales by direct or indirect energy recovery from diverted organic materials leading to short and long-term project and operations success. Additionally, we will discuss how a decrease in landfill gas flow may benefit some facilities, and explore the benefits of organics diversion related to regulators and local communities.
